I've got a question

Recently I reconnected with a friend I've known from high school. It's been ten years ago since we've talked and we slowly started recovering our long lost friendship. It might go as well as a possible visit in the near future. But I'd like to do a background check on him. I've got my info of where he's curently located. The problem happens to be the cost. I understand background checks can go as far as $40 bucks but when I googled around all I kept getting was this one search engine and nothing else. So I was wondering if anyone has done a background check online before and if so where and how much you paid. My aunt said you can get one for a much, much cheaper price but can't remember where.

I'd rather be safe then sorry and trusting people for their word isn't what it use to be ten years ago.

if he's your friend, why on earth would you want to do background checks on him? I can sort of see it if he was just some guy you'd met on the net and you wanted to check him out before meeting him in person, but someone you already knew? how would you feel if one of your old school friends did the same to you?

Just try and Google background check and see what comes up. But I agree, why on earth do you want to meet someone if you don't trust that person enough to make a background check. And even if he were, say, arrested for felony would you then decide not to be friends with him any more or, well, eet up with him at least? Just curious.
Each to his/her own of course and no one is right or wrong but I know I wouldn't be friends with someone who had to do bckground check on me before meeting up.
cheers

Forgive me, but that isn't friendship.

I'm assuming this person was a friend, but is no longer, since you feel the need to do a background check. Skip it, and forget about him.

Personally I've no problemo with anyone at all, Friend or Foe, doing a background check..
Hey, if the guy has committed various criminal acts/done time and chooses not to disclose, well, hey
whether the person has or no I mean like if it makes You feel better, go for it and have the check done. If he's done time or whatever then it is your choice to meet up or no.
If he is any kind of a decent guy at all he would want you to look out for yourself. Just if you have check done and you later meet up, tell him about it.
It's called looking out for #1,
Though can't say that I would personally go that route.
Still the Choice is yours regarding your life.
As far as cost factor, I'm no clue, never done a background check on anyone.
